10) Sexual assault is ignoring or denying a
person's physical boundaries, be it forceful or passive.
11)"I have. I've been in a relationship where my
significant other gaslighted me into thinking that I owed him my body. There
were several instances where he ignored me saying no or took advantage of me
when I was asleep. I've also seen women being followed or hit on by men."
12) "I ALWAYS intervene. If you see anything that
looks wrong, like someone trying to get out of a situation with another person
that is obviously attracted to them, you ALWAYS ask the potential victim if they
are okay. I've separated people at parties by pretending to be a target's
friend and taking them out of the situation."
13) "I think the amount of awareness Texas State
maintains about sexual assault is pretty good. I remember going through the
Title IX part of the orientation program and feeling comforted by how thorough
it was, thought it would be nice to see more material on sexual assault in
relationships. I do think the campus could use more of the emergency stations
with those blue lights, though. My schedule forces me to walk around campus
after dark, and I've noticed that they're few and far between."

10."an act in which a
person intentionally sexually touches another person without that person's
consent, or coerces or physically forces a person to engage in a sexual act
against their will."
11."Yes, at a football game
against UTSA. A girl was clearly intoxicated and a man was grabbing her from
the behind after constant complaints to stop."
12. "Making sure that
people are AWARE that it does happen every day, to anyone. && make the
victims feel as if they are not alone."
Olivia Young - 21-year-old, Junior, Advertising major from Austin, TX
10. "I believe sexual
assault to be any form sexual activity that is not consensual. Although 'assault' sounds extremely aggressive, sexual assault can take many forms other
than rape itself. It can include inappropriate/unwanted touching, fondling or
kissing. Sexual assault can also, of course occur between any two genders or
sexual orientations."
11. "While I have not
previously witnessed or experienced sexual assault, I do have a close friend
who has. It is extremely difficult for her to go in-depth and disclose
personal information about her assault, but I do know that it's something which
will stay with her entire life. She will often have flashbacks to the
event and currently goes to counseling in part to deal with this awful incident
no one should ever experience."
12. "Personally, I believe
I can prevent sexual assault within my close circle by always sticking with
friends when I go out and making sure none of my friends go home with
strangers. I can also be aware of my surroundings and be cautious around people
that give me an uneasy feeling."
13. While Texas State
University does do a good job with the 'Not On My Campus' organization, they
could still do more. The best thing to help a victim is to let them know that
its okay to talk about it. So, Texas State could have counselors specific to
sexual assault issues and welcome any and all students to go and talk to them
if they please. "

10. "Any type of sexual
action or intent that happens without consent from at least one of the parties
involved."
12. "Take care of my
friends and fellow classmates, whether it is spreading knowledge about the
subject or different circumstances around the community. Also, to speak up and act when necessary."
13. "Texas State could implement more
programs and send out more information for on-campus occurrences to create more
awareness for faculty/staff and students."

10. "Sexual assault is a
form of sexual harassment. Sexual assault is a person-to-person touch/contact
or any type of interaction without consent. It does not just have to be rape,
an example would be groping of person."
11. "As a woman
unfortunately I have seen a lot of this and have experienced this. We live in
this hyper masculine culture where women are expected to just take it or that it’s
a 'compliment'. It should not be like that. Consent is a ongoing thing, it does
not just stop after a certain point."
12. "First, I would like
to be more informed of how often and when this happens. Next, I would like to
make sure that everyone is held accountable! Also, I would make sure that my
peers, including myself act quickly. If you see something, SAY SOMETHING!!!
That person who was in that situation will thank you."
13. "I do not know if they
already have this but maybe have a safe place for people to let things out (in
a box or bulletin board) from their pasts whether it is sexual assault or
eating disorders… because just letting it out can make all the difference. Then
maybe for those ready to verbally and publicly come out about their abuse have
a group where they come and speak to one another, role play, etc. so they do
not feel alone and maybe they can get closure out of it."
